Roof cowls applications

All of Smitsair’s roof hoods are available in different sizes and designs, the hoods put together according to the requirements of your project. With additional options such as silencers, drip traps and powder coatings in various colours, we offer complete and tailor-made ventilation solutions for any type of building.

Smitsair offers a wide range of roof hoods for a variety of ventilation needs. Whether it is recessed roof hoods for pitched roofs or standard roof hoods, our products provide efficient air supply and exhaust while protecting against rain and other weather conditions.

Recessed roof hoods for pitched roofs

For situations where roof aesthetics are important, our recessed roof hoods such as the DK-2VP and BV-70VP offer a discreet solution. These roof hoods are suitable for roof pitches from 15° to 89° and can be supplied in various sizes.

Roof caps for flat roofs

Our DK-2 and DK-3, are designed for a wide range of applications. They offer excellent protection against weather elements and can be used for both supply and exhaust air. Combined with a roof curb, our standard roof hoods are excellent for use on flat roofs.

Combined roof cowls

Our DK-2/3 canopy is designed to handle combined airflows. This hood is suitable for horizontal intake and vertical discharge of air.

Deflector cap

The SK-1 deflector hood is used for vertical air intake or discharge where rainwater is collected and discharged to a discharge pipe at the side of the hood. In this way, the underlying indoor air conditioning system remains dry and operational.

Frequently asked questions about roof caps

A roof vent provides air intake and/or exhaust via the roof surface, whilst also protecting the roof opening from rain, dirt and birds. Smitsair roof vents are suitable for both natural and mechanical ventilation and help to create a healthy indoor climate.

The type of roof vent best suited to your roof depends on the roof type, roof pitch (flat or pitched) and the desired airflow (intake, exhaust or combined). In the roof vent brochure, you will find a comprehensive overview of the different types of roof vents and their specific applications.

We’d be happy to help you choose the right solution for your situation. Please feel free to get in touch with one of our colleagues.

The SK-1 shaft hood (or deflector hood) is used for vertical air intake or exhaust, where rainwater is collected and then drained away via a drainpipe on the side of the hood. This keeps the space beneath the hood dry.

Shaft hoods / deflector hoods are mainly used in situations where a high air exchange rate is required, such as in the hospitality industry.

The Smitsair combined roof vent combines the DK2 and DK3 models into a combined DK-2/3 roof vent. The DK-2/3 combined roof vent features a horizontal air inlet and a vertical air outlet. This allows both airflows to pass through a single roof opening, providing an efficient solution for combined ventilation systems or in situations where roof space is limited.

Yes, all Smitsair roof caps can be powder-coated in any standard RAL colour of your choice from the K7 colour chart. This ensures that the roof cap matches the design of the building or roofing perfectly.
